Mon. 5/8.
John fell at a gas station stop, hit his head, got a very black eye. Station attendant had parked his car in front of (blocking) the ramp for handicapped people, which is easier to walk up than the curb.
Tues. 5/9.
Drove to Concord (Charlotte NC).
Still having trouble with cell coverage in places.
NC has great plantings of flowers at on/off ramps on I-85. Huge masses of poppies or daylilies or irises + shrubs & trees.
Wed. 5/10.
Rest/work day.
Thurs. 5/11.
Toured historic Rosedale Plantation, 1815, Federal architecture, orig. Fr. wallpaper, faux grained woodwork, picturesque grounds. Lifestyles & arts of 19th century Catawba River Valley.
Fri. 5/12.
Met with doctor at OrthoCarolina re Bob’s broken knee. OK to defer treatment till we get home.
Sat. 5/13.
Tour of Huntersville, NC with Bill, Bob’s friend from Long Island. Nice clubhouse, tons of activities, has made lots of friends. Police dept. has an “exchange” spot in the parking lot, for people getting things on Craig’s list, a safe public place to meet strangers.
Visited very old hardware store/museum. Electric wiring was very “creative.”
